If you are a current or former/retired sworn law enforcement officer, you now have the ability to verify your status.

Why should you get verified?
  • Besides from having the nifty Verified LEO icon badge next to your name on all your listings, you will have the ability to bid on any items which a seller specifies as "verified LEO buyers only".
How much does it cost?
  • Nothing - It's free!
How often do I have re-verify?
  • Never - verification is a one-time process
Cool! - How do I get verified?
  • It's easy - just send an email from your official agency email account to admin@badgeswap.com with the subject "VERIFICATION". Please be sure to include your BadgeSwap username in the body of the message.
  • If you don't have an official account, you may send a scanned copy of your credentials from your personal account instead.
What about civillian (non-sworn) law enforcement, corrections, and telecommunications personnel?
  • Non-sworn law enforcement may apply for verification by submitting their agency identification card along with a brief description of the training or certification required for that position. Please include your current employment status and total length of service. Verification for non-sworn LEOs will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Are there any plans to verify collectors, fire, EMS, etc?
  • Not currently; but we're always open for suggestions.
There is an increasing issue with members using spam filters / services that require the sender to visit a site & enter a code before messages are delivered. I understand that spam is an annoying problem, but with well over 1,500 members I simply do not have the time/ability to jump through all the assorted hoops associated with each individual members spam filter.

If you use such a service, please ensure that you add badgeswap.com as a permitted domain to ensure that you receive notifications regarding items you are bidding on, selling, or registration emails if you are a new member. If you cannot add a domain, then please add "admin@badgeswap.com" and "roger@badgeswap.com" as approved/verified senders to ensure you are able to receive these notifications.

If you cannot figure out how to do this, you will either have to disable your spam filter or update your profile to use an alternative, unfiltered email account.
Effective immediately,US Federal commemorative, inauguration, and obsolete badges may be listed on BadgeSwap.

With the exception of mini-badges, all Federal badges must be listed in the US Federal Badges category.

All auctions created in this category require administrator review & approval before the auction will appear on the site. This is necessary to ensure that no current issue Federal badges are listed. Please note that even if a badge is "technically" obsolete, if it bears a strong resemblance to the current issue badge the listing may not be permitted. All listings fees for unapproved auctions will be refunded.

Please note that this is a manual process, so please allow a minimum of 48 hours after submitting an auction for approval.
Buyers should note that the use of the word "hallmarked" in any listing does not mean that a badge is necessarily genuine, department-issued as many reproduction badges have makers names. All "Gode" badges for example are worthless reproductions.

It should also be noted that several makers names have been faked on badges (notably Sun Badge Co and Irvine Jachens) and Entenmann-Rovin rosettes have been stuck onto fake badges to make them appear genuine. Buyers should ask questions of the seller and do their own research BEFORE bidding.

Any seller misrepresenting any reproduction badge as issued will have their membership suspended, with listings cancelled and no fees refunded.

Although the vast majority of our members are outstanding examples of respectable collectors, there have been several instances recently in which winner bidders have failed to pay for the item won. To prevent future recurrences, we have implemented the following policy:

If payment is not made within 7 days after the close of the auction, the account of the non-paying member will be suspended.

The account will only be reinstated after payment is made to the seller and we (admin@badgeswap.com) have been contacted by the non-paying member and have received assurance that a similar situation will not occur again.

If once reinstated the offending member fails to pay timely after winning any auction in the future then that member will be permanently suspended.

If you are not 100% committed to purchasing an item as it is listed (provided photos, shipping charges, etc) then DO NOT BID on it. If you want to negotiate shipping charges, request additional photos, etc – the time to do so is BEFORE you place a bid.

Members must utilize the site messaging system for all negotiations so that we have a record of the communication in the event that this becomes an issue. Auctions postings that include email addresses will be deleted without refund. We will not attempt to mediate any auction where the site messaging system was not used to facilitate the transaction.

BadgeSwap is proud to offer the Preferred Seller plan to qualified members who would benefit from a flat monthly fee of $25 for unlimited listings.

Acceptance into the program is based the quality and quantity of items and requires a solid feedback history. There are no hard guidelines or quotas; membership is extended at the discretion of the site administrators.

Members interested in the program should email admin@badgeswap.com

Please include any usernames used on eBay & previous badge sites.
